“A hero is a man who does what he can.” - Romaine Rolland Often in the wake of something tragic, people step up, offer their help, do their part. As will all things, life keeps moving on. Volunteers must return to their own homes, the media heads on to the next hot button event, and left behind are those who must live in the heart of it all. For the people of Iowa, the flood waters are beginning to recede. And though the clean up has barely begun many of those who arrived early, have returned to their own homes. While others, who were there all along have no homes to return to. "A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes longer." - Ralph Waldo Emmerson The Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center is facing the kind of uncertain future. Devastated by flood waters, they may never be able to return to their building. Please visit their site, and make a donation, and continue to support them in the healing process. While the water may be gone, the devastation remains. Together we can dig in to that mud, and maybe some flowers can grow. |
