Betsy's Turn
You many have noticed by now I have a soft spot in my heart for the senior dogs. A dog of advanced age that has been surrended to rescue / shelter life has the odds stacked against them. They come with a history, sometimes with behaviors, or illness. Also, many younger adopters want a pet that will be around for years to come, not in the twilight of it's life. These overlooked older dogs can make great pets, if you give them a chance. Betsy, the darling doxie, is a perfect example of this! At nine years old, she is a mature lady looking for a safe home to find and give love. The perfect companion for someone looking for an already trained, settled dog. No wild puppy antics with her, Betsy is friendly with people of all ages and waiting for the right lap to settle into. As with many older dogs, her owner was unable to keep her after moving to the nursing home. Betsy moved to, but later had to leave when a policy change banned pets. She was lucky to have been placed with Dakota Dachshund, a foster based rescue, and not lost in the shelter shuffle.
